Leah – A Beautiful Telescope Built in 1883
Leah is a great example of what a well-built machine can do. It originally cost US $3000.00 back in 1883 -and has been in use ever since! The telescopes at Chabot are open for evening viewing on Friday and Saturday nights, and are also open during the day for daytime viewing of celestial objects (yes, it’s possible). That’s why it was open for my video shoot, as well as it’s neighbor Rachel -a larger refractor.
I’ve looked through this telescope at night at both Jupiter, and Saturn. The views are fabulous. Chabot Science Center is located in the hills above Oakland, California; USA.
