Cloud Forest View

This knoll is not the summit of Doi Inthanon. We are actually downslope not only of the summit, but also below Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon, the chedi you can see in my previous videos. The summit is behind us and the camera is pointed, pretty much downslope. This nameless knoll is 1 or 2 kilometers down the road from Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon, there are some crude trails for anyone who wants to park and scramble up the hill for the view. The land you see in this video forms much of the watershed for the lower elevation waterfalls such as Wachirathon and Mae Klang.

Filmed in October 2010:
As you can tell, it was quite windy on the summit of that knoll! After the wind sounds in the beginning, you can hear lots of bird calls and insects.
This is a view of the cloud forest on the slopes of Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in Thailand. This is just down the road from Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon -and at a slightly lower elevation. Here, we are just below the cloud deck, and the clouds above us seem close enough almost to touch!
Contrast this with my two previous videos, taken at the chedi of Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon. There, at that higher elevation, the landscape was completely enveloped by the clouds.
